About me

At Heart, I’m a Great Lakes
Gal.

Growing up along Lake Huron in northern Michigan sparked my love for nature, adventure, creativity, and taking risks. That passion led me to study Environmental Science and Oceanography at the University of Michigan. As a first-generation college student, I worked hard to gain hands-on experience and explore my evolving interests. I was fortunate to be part of inspiring communities like the Kessler Scholars and the NOAA Ernest F. Hollings Scholarship program. One of the most transformative experiences was studying abroad on a small island in Turks and Caicos, where I learned not just about scientific research, but also about connection, culture, and the power of conversation.

Since then, I’ve shifted from marine and environmental research to science communication: something I didn’t see as a tangible option until my experience abroad. After a few cross country roadtrips, temporary jobs and a lot of dreaming, I finally decided to JUST START. Now I am pursuing a Masters Degree in Science Communication at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

I’m passionate about making science engaging and accessible, helping people better understand the world around them. Through storytelling, education, and outreach, I aim to bridge the gap between science and everyday life.

When I’m not working, you’ll find me outdoors: hiking, beachcombing, taking photos, journaling, practicing yoga, or possibly crafting with shells.
